Reasons why Boston Celtics should not pursue Buddy Hield in a trade deal

Buddy Hield may end up playing for the Boston Celtics, it has been said. The Celtics would probably have to send Malcolm Brogdon and a couple draft selections to the Indiana Pacers in order for this to materialize.

According to rumors that are going around, Brogdon is dissatisfied with the Celtics organization, which adds his name to trade rumors. Brogdon and Hield’s hypothetical swap would also comply with the pay matching requirements.

In 31 minutes per game throughout the previous season, Hield averaged 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. With a total of 288 made three-pointers, the 30-year-old came in second in the NBA.

Although Hield is regarded as one of the NBA’s elite three-point shooters, keeping Brogdon is Boston’s wisest move. In 26 minutes per game last season, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

Marcus Smart recently left, leaving a void for floor generals, which Brogdon would fill if he remained. Lacking this vital playmaking ability, Hield, who averaged 2.8 assists, may see his effectiveness suffer if given a bench duty.

Although Brogdon’s elbow injury is still not fully healed, it is unlikely that it will prevent him from being consistent in the long run. As evidenced by the experiences of Derrick Rose, Isaiah Thomas, and Gordon Hayward, injuries to the leg region frequently have more severe repercussions.

Overall, Hield has hit his ceiling and, if at all, wouldn’t be a significant improvement above Brogdon. The current Sixth Man of the Year should remain unaffected unless Boston’s management seeks a guard of All-Star caliber, like Damian Lillard.
