Jokic was named MVP in 2021 and 2022. Many NBA observers feel that voters chose Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid last season due to voter fatigue. Larry Bird, a Boston Celtics star, is the first player in NBA history to win three MVPs in a row.
Last season, Embiid averaged 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 blocks while shooting 54.8% from the field, 33.0% from beyond the arc, and 85.7% from the free-throw line for the Sixers. For the second straight season, the six-time NBA All-Star led the league in points per game with 39 double-doubles and one triple-double.
Meanwhile, for the Nuggets, Jokic averaged 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game while shooting 63.2% overall, 38.3% from three, and 82.2% from the free-throw line. The five-time NBA All-Star had 58 double-doubles and 29 triple-doubles in his career.
The Sixers won 54 games last season but fell in seven games to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, while the Nuggets won 53 games and won the NBA title in five games over the Miami Heat.
Jokic has averaged 20.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 6.6 assists in his career. He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame one day.
