Kevin Durant attends a holiday gathering and surprised 40 homeless children.
Kevin Durant surprised 40 New York City homeless youngsters on Wednesday night as part of the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation’s (KDCF) annual Christmas programs and ongoing philanthropic endeavors.
Durant paid a visit to the Coalition for the Homeless (CFTH), not only to brighten the holiday season for children whose families are currently homeless, but also to highlight the city’s rising homeless situation.
KD chatted with the children and their parents, explaining that he is now a part of the city…
32 of the 40 youngsters were from CFTH’s Bound for Success program in Brooklyn, which strives to give one-on-one tutoring, athletics, and recreation to students every day after school and over the summer.
Eight of the children were from two families profiled in a recent New York Times article that shined light on the day-to-day lives of homeless families in New York City… and stated that 114,000 youngsters attend the city’s schools are homeless.
In addition, KDCF announced that it will provide a grant to CFTH to support their Bound for Success initiative.
Jarrett Allen sponsored his third annual Meals + arithmetic Thanksgiving event last month, where he distributed holiday groceries to 25 local children and their families while simultaneously educating them on arithmetic and budgeting. Children of Promise, an after-school program and summer day camp specifically created to satisfy the needs, interests, and concerns of children left behind by a parent serving time in jail, provided the youngsters for Allen’s effort.
