Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is no stranger to making tough shots. The Nuggets hosted the Chicago Bulls in NBA preseason play on Sunday evening, and Jokic showed fans early on what a nasty shot creator he is.
Jokic found himself in an isolation situation against Bulls center Andre Drummond just seconds into the game, and he instantly knocked down a seemingly impossible off balance step back jump shot from the baseline.
The jumper elicited stunned gasps from fans, commentators, and Bulls defenders.
Nikola Jokic has become known during his career for, among other things, his ability to make these impossible shots with seemingly no way of stabilizing himself. Jokic made multiple jumpers of similar type during the Nuggets’ 2023 NBA championship run, particularly in their 4-0 sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
Following one of the most dominant individual postseasons in recent NBA history, Jokic has established himself as the (largely) unanimous best player in the world. Opposing defenses had no answer for Jokic’s uncommon combination of passing, size, and, of course, his ability to knock down shots like the one above.
The Nuggets will begin their title defense and the regular season in 2023-24 when they face the Lakers on October 24. Jokic and his teammates will receive their title rings for the 2023 season during the home game.
