In December of the 2021-22 season, the former Minnesota Timberwolf played the best game of his career against his new team, scoring a career-high 20 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out four assists in a 108-103 triumph.

Knight, who spent training camp and the preseason with Boston’s opening-night opponent, the New York Knicks, said Al Horford has been a mentor to him. Oshae Brissett, who played for the Orange in college, is also a Syracuse native.

The Celtics dismissed Jay Scrubb to make place for the six-foot-ten forward, who is more of a four than a center but capable of stepping up to play the pivot.

The latter impressed enough at Summer League to earn a two-way contract with Boston, but he tore his right ACL the day before the C’s preseason opening at the Auerbach Center.

Scrubb is expected to remain with the Celtics while he recovers. He was at the Auerbach Center on Sunday for practice.
