Luka Doncic’s new vehicle matches his level of fearlessness.
When the Dallas Mavericks player arrived at the American Airlines Arena last week in an Apocalypse Manufacturing Hellfire, it garnered attention. Athletes driving exotic cars is nothing new, especially those who will earn over $37 million this season. However, the 23-year-old’s 6’6″ frame elevates the situation to a whole new level.
We’ve previously written about one of Apocalypse’s monster trucks on our site. And for good cause. They’re some of the silliest cars available for purchase in the US right now. The Florida shop basically takes an already crazy bruiser, such of the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen or Ram TRX, and modifies it to make it even more beastly by adding extra wheels, extending it, and replacing its engine with a more potent one.
The Hellfire is modeled after the Jeep Gladiator, the most commanding 4×4 vehicle produced by Stellantis. Apocalypse’s truck bed was expanded by 2.3 feet, resulting in a customized vehicle that is 20.5 feet long from bumper to bumper. That’s only the beginning, of course, as it was additionally raised and given an additional axle, making it 6.75 feet tall—just slightly higher than the player. To complete the look, the car had angular fenders, a steel bumper, and a winch. It was also clad in three pieces of matte-black Kevlar armor.
Under the hood, there has been the largest modification save the addition of wheels. A Chevrolet LS3 engine, identical to the one in the sixth-generation Corvette, can be found there. Apocalypse claims to be capable of producing 500 horsepower, all of which are sent to the car’s six wheels through an automated transmission.
