To remain a long-term member of the Milwaukee Bucks, superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo just agreed to a three-year, $186 million contract extension. Fans of the Bucks should be happy about this, as the squad is undoubtedly ready to contend for a title soon.
Many fans responded to Antetokounmpo’s contract extension on Twitter following the announcement of the agreement. A fan expressed concern that this development is concerning the league.
It will be interesting to see how Antetokounmpo ends up doing over the course of his extension. He is clearly in his prime right now and is still one of the most dominant superstars in the league.
This past regular season, Antetokounmpo averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game for the Bucks. The Bucks clearly believe that the superstar can lead them to another championship in the future, and we’ll see whether that ends up happening.
Damian Lillard Is Hyped To Play With Giannis Antetokounmpo
It is fair to say that Antetokounmpo is the best player that Lillard will have played with during his entire career. In fact, Lillard previously spoke on playing with Antetokounmpo, calling him a “cheat code”.
“So, it’s just different because it was like, that’s a cheat code. To just be able to throw a ball up and have somebody be coordinated enough to hold his guy off, go up, catch it, come down on balance, go up and no dribble, no step and dunk it, you know, over people. So, I mean, it’s … it’s definitely different, man.”
It is clear that Lillard is already impressed with what Antetokounmpo brings to the table. It will certainly be interesting to see how Antetokounmpo fits with Lillard once the regular season starts, but the two have already shown some glimpses of their chemistry in the preseason.
The Bucks ought to be viewed as the Eastern Conference favorites.
It’s reasonable to argue that the Bucks are the Eastern Conference favorites to advance to the Finals based only on talent. They partnered Antetokounmpo and Lillard, two players of superstar caliber, and added Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez to their supporting group.
Of course, the Bucks will need to defeat a few other formidable Eastern teams in order to claim the title. The Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat are still in the running, while the Boston Celtics ultimately traded for Jrue Holiday themselves.
I hope the Bucks continue to have success in the future. They can definitely win a championship, but titles don’t just being handed to you. To gain home-court advantage, the squad will need to complete the regular season strong and maintain its health heading into the next one.
