When Toulouse visits Anfield on Thursday, Liverpool will turn their attention to the Europa League.
The Reds have made a flawless start to their Group E campaign, with victories over LASK and Union SG. And, following a 2-0 Merseyside derby victory over Everton, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool appear to be contenders for the Premier League crown this season.
If Liverpool were to battle on four fronts, the majority of their players must be available. The injury list is possibly longer than Klopp would want, and here is the latest on the fitness front ahead of the Toulouse match.
1. Cody Gakpo – knee
Due to a knee injury, the forward has missed the last three games. Gakpo returned to training last week but was not selected for the Merseyside derby. Potential rematch: Toulouse (H), Thursday, October 26.
2. Andy Robertson – shoulder
During the international break, the left-back suffered an injury during Scotland’s 2-0 loss to Spain. He could be out of commission for three months. N/A as a potential return game
3. Ben Doak – unknown
The young winger suffered a minor muscle injury while playing for Scotland under-21s and was forced to miss the Merseyside derby. However, his problem does not appear to be very critical. Toulouse (H), Thursday, October 26.
4. Ben Doak – unknown
The teenage winger suffered a minor muscle injury on Scotland under-21s duty and was absent for the Merseyside derby. His issue doesn’t sound too serious, though, Toulouse (H), Thurs Oct 26.
5. Stefan Bajacetic – calf
Bajcetic had two appearances after having adductor surgery in March before suffering a muscle problem, which is usual after a long-term problem. Klopp is not putting any pressure on the 19-year-old midfielder to return quickly. N/A as a potential return game
6. Thiago Alcantara – hip
Despite having hip surgery in April, the midfielder is expected to play this season. According to Klopp, Thiago has experienced a couple of setbacks and is no longer working on grass. N/A as a potential return game
