The weekly maintenance bill for Michael Jordan’s $80 million superyacht is staggering

When you’re the world’s richest athlete, aka Michael Jordan, you can pretty much buy everything you want.

The list includes a $3.5 million hypercar, a $155,000 ultra-rare timepiece, and a $14.8 million Chicago house.

Jordan’s most costly single purchase to far, however, was a $80 million superyacht dubbed “Joy.”

It’s not his only one; the former NBA player also owns a superyacht called ‘Mr. Terrible,’ which he paid $21 million for.

But let’s get back to the superyacht Joy, which Jordan purchased in 2016.

Michael Jordan was initially seen cruising the superyacht with some of his closest friends on his way to the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy.

To be honest, with a length of 230 feet and an outline of about 10 feet, it’s difficult to miss.

The ship’s top speed is 16 knots (29 km/h / 18 mph), and its cruising speed is 12 knots (22 km/h / 13 mph).

The superstructure is composed of aluminum, the decks are made of teak wood, and the entire ship is insulated with glass aluminum to withstand changing weather.

Michael Jordan named the superyacht Joy for a reason.

It pretty much has everything the star could ever want or need.

The five-deck yacht has eight bedrooms, an indoor jacuzzi, a movie theater, a spa, and an exquisite dining room.

One of the yacht’s most remarkable features is the owner’s pavilion, which houses the penthouse apartment, personal office, and a balcony with the best views of the ocean.

Michael Jordan may stay active aboard the yacht by visiting the gym or the indoor basketball court.

However, as you might think, Joy is not cheap to maintain.

Marca estimates that she will require a crew of around 19 people onboard 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Michael Jordan and/or his friends and family, fortunately, do not own the superyacht.

Anyone with $840,000 can, in fact, rent Joy for a week.
