Jurgen Klopp praised Liverpool player Ryan Gravenberch after his team defeated Toulouse 5-1 in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Reds are now almost certain to qualify for the knockout stages after maintaining their perfect record in a competition Klopp has already promised to treat seriously.
Summer commitment Gravenberch was engaged throughout, building on his first goal for the club earlier this month against Union Saint-Gilloise. Things appear to be heading in the right direction after receiving his first Premier League start of the season in Saturday’s Merseyside derby win against Everton.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder was brilliant throughout Liverpool’s triumph over the French side, contributing to Darwin Nunez’s third goal of the night.
Gravenberch then scored the fourth goal at Anfield after Nunez had struck the post, and Klopp praised the 21-year-old’s performance.
“He’s a good player,” he said, according to TNT Sports.
“I’m so happy for him that he’s starting to enjoy football again.” His initial touch is excellent, as is his ball acceleration. He’s only halfway there. The good news is that he has a lot of room for improvement.”
