On Sunday, Giannis Antetokounmpo celebrated his first Father’s Day. I’m guessing the first Father’s Day is really awesome. It’s always been a day to honor your father, and now you get to be the one who is honored. Antetokounmpo posted a photo of himself with his son, Liam, who is starting to grow hair, and stated they had a wonderful day together. In the midst of all the awful headlines, it makes you grin.
There are many drawbacks to basketball being on hold for several months, but do you want to hear a good for Giannis? He was able to spend an unusual amount of time with his newborn child. That is fantastic. Many athletes do not witness their children’s development in the same way that others do. This has to be a rewarding aspect of Giannis’ and any other new dads in the NBA, MLB, or NHL’s hiatus. I’m sure Giannis is feeling a little depressed today because his father isn’t there, but I’m sure he’s beaming with pride as he looks down on his son.
