Designer Ben Kirschner has designed personalized All-Star Game Shoes for Kyrie Irving, inspired by the Moccasins

Since the widely publicized split of Kyrie Irving and The Swooshes, the eight-time All-Star has continued to hoop in his signature silhouette with the Beaverton brand, albeit completely covering up each pair’s signifying Check with meaningful messaging centered on freeing the oppressed, supporting Black individuals’ revolution, and equality.

During this past Sunday’s All-Star game, Irving introduced the most modified version of his signature silhouette array since his split with the sportswear juggernaut, a moccasin-inspired Nike Kyrie Infinity PE.

Ben Kirschner, a former Nike footwear designer, created the neutral-colored costume in a way that paid homage to Irving’s Lakota name of Hélà and his Native American ancestry. Tan-dressed tassels wrap over both side panels, imitating the leather hide moccasins associated with many indigenous cultures across North America. “Power To The People” is laser-etched into the outside side panel, while “Freedom” appears on the medial side. Irving, a member of the South Dakotan Lakota tribe, has his Hélà name – which translates to “Little Mountain” – represented on the tongue, with crimson red ornamentation accenting the sock liner and tread underfoot.
