Paul Merson praised Liverpool midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis MacAllister.

Jurgen Klopp reveals Liverpool players are excited by new arrivals Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai | LiveScore

The Sportskeeda expert hailed the two Anfield summer additions ahead of their Premier League meeting this weekend.

Szoboszlai is currently Liverpool’s finest player and is a strong contender for signing of the season.

Merson, on the other hand, was quick to laud Mac Allister, calling him “a top player too” who has been excelling in a slightly different position.

“Dominik Szoboszlai has come in and blown people away with his performances, but Alexis Mac Allister is a top player too,” he added.

“He’s playing as a No. 6 which isn’t really his usual position, but Liverpool are winning games right now, so it shouldn’t matter, at least until they sign a specialist defensive midfielder.”

Klopp told he's making Liverpool summer signing look 'lifeless' as same player names Reds stars he feels are strongest

Mac Allister joined Liverpool last summer for a rumored fee of £35 million, which could rise to £55 million.

So far, the 24-year-old has performed admirably at Anfield, starting all of the Reds’ Premier League games.

It would be interesting to watch how Mac Allister performs when he is constantly playing higher up the lineup rather than at No. 6.

Obviously, he’s doing well despite being in this position, but we’ll have to wait until January to see if Liverpool signs a genuine DM.

Overall, the Reds have struck gold this summer in the transfer market by rebuilding their midfield. This occurred under difficult conditions, as two important midfielders unexpectedly left.

Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo have all performed admirably, and it will be interesting to watch how they – and the rest of the Liverpool team – do in the coming weeks.
