The Warriors responded to an early Rockets run with a team-wide 3-point shooting effort, and with 1:39 remaining in the first quarter, Payton drained a 3-pointer off an inbounds pass to give the team its first lead, 23-22.
The first quarter saw Houston ahead by as much as six points.
The Warriors then seized full advantage of the Rockets’ 0-for-8 start from the field to start the second quarter with a 10-0 blitz that gave them a 12-point lead. Golden State led 57-47 at the half, but Houston subsequently closed the gap to four points.
