“The boy is a joy to watch with how much he loves to play and how mature he is on the pitch with two assists,” he stated after the game. You need players that understand the game, and he most emphatically does.”

Szoboszlai joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in the summer for £60 million. He had a rough start to preseason due to an injury, but he has been outstanding since the start of the regular season.

In 13 appearances, the Hungarian has two goals and two assists. Aside from those roles, he has excelled in midfield with his ball control and distribution.

With home advantage, Liverpool were overwhelming favourites to overcome Forest, but they needed to win. Szoboszlai was the standout performer, with 103 touches and 75 successful passes.

He also won four duels and provided two great chances that his teammates converted. The 23-year-old has already shown to be an excellent purchase for Liverpool and should only improve.

Since Philippe Coutinho’s departure, the club has been without a creative midfielder in the roster. Through Szoboszlai, they may have found their answer.

Following the win over Forest, Liverpool is now fourth in the league table. With a 3-point deficit, they are within striking distance of current league leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

On Wednesday, the team will play Bournemouth away from home in the fourth round of the League Cup. Klopp is expected to make changes, as he always does for the competition.
