Irving was in town as part of a promotional trip for Nike, the sportswear brand that sponsors the 25-year-old.
Irving chatted to fans at the Nike store in Tokyo’s Harajuku district, surrounded by a swarm of smartphone cameras.
Irving was photographed and interviewed as part of the event, and he discussed what it takes to be a superstar basketball player.
Some of the store’s customers flew in from as far away as Hong Kong and Australia.Some people started queuing outside around 6:00 a.m. to meet Irving in person.
As part of the event, Irving ran a basketball clinic and a skills contest for selected basketball-loving students from across Japan.
