The ex-wife of NHL player Evander Kane, Anna Kane, recently took to Instagram to criticize the Edmonton Oilers and their star player, Connor McDavid, in a series of angry posts. This follows a court battle in which Anna lost custody of their daughter, Kensington Ava Kane, in March 2021.
Anna expressed her dissatisfaction with the Edmonton Oilers’ decision to sign Evander Kane in a direct message to Connor McDavid at the start of the Instagram story.
“You hired a man that STOLE my child from me!!!!!!!!!! This is your karma. You will never win until you get rid of him.”
She tapped into the mothers’ intuition of the Oilers players in a different section of her Instagram story. She compared her incapacity to put her children to bed each night for two years with their ability to do so.
“And for all the moms on that team that tuck their kids into bed every night. When I haven’t in two years.”Anna continued by implying that Evander Kane’s supposed actions were well-known and that the NHL community is close-knit. She implied that other players in the league knew about his actions but decided to ignore them. Anna questioned whether McDavid knew about Evander’s actions in a direct message. She also expressed her shock at the seeming shift in perspective, saying:”Now he is jealous of you and smiles in your face? You guys knew what he was doing and all looked the other way, shame on you as an organization.”Earlier, Anna charged Evander Kane with gambling.
When Evander Kane was a member of the San Jose Sharks in 2021, Anna Kane made grave accusations against him. She claimed that he tried to influence the results of hockey games to make money by gambling on them.
On his X (previously Twitter) account, Kane, however, refuted the accusations and stated that he was ready to assist the NHL in any way possible to clear his name.
Says Kane: “I have NEVER gambled/bet on Hockey, NEVER gambled/bet on a Sharks game, NEVER gambled/bet on any of my games and NEVER thrown a hockey game.”The league started looking into the claims made against Kane, but they were unable to locate any solid proof to back up Anna’s accusations.
Kane disclosed gambling losses of $1.5 million earlier in 2020. Notably, a Las Vegas hotel dropped a lawsuit against him in that same year. The hotel charged him with failing to pay a $500,000 debt from a single gambling night in April 2019.
