After unveiling their ultra-modern Alberta mansion, Canadian hockey player Connor McDavid and his girlfriend Lauren Kyle are attracting a lot of attention.
Viewers observed the Edmonton neighborhood home of the couple was devoid of color during an Architectural Digest tour.
One person on Twitter said, “After seeing Connor McDavid’s house, I no longer wish to be rich.” How in the world am I going to eat pizza rolls in a house that lacks personality and is monochromatic?
“Excellent, we’re back for another McDavid House Tour, where we ask the same question: what did colors do to offend these two?” another was added.
The 24-year-old McDavid told Architectural Digest, “We live in Edmonton, Alberta, which for people [who] don’t know, is a very cold place.”
After McDavid inked a nine-figure, eight-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers in 2017, the couple set out to find their ideal home.
The property is located in the gated community of Parkview, which is upscale, and it has sweeping views of the river valley.
McDavid spends most of his time rollerblading on the newly constructed sports court in the basement, which is adjacent to the bar lounge.
We knew we would have to host a lot because Connor was the captain, Kyle added. “This place has the vibe of being an entertainer’s house.”
The hockey player continued, “I think our house has kind of become the designated team party house.”
The modern, minimalistic house has televisions tucked away in unlikely places.
Kyle remarks, “I like that everything is hidden.” “We even have a brass door that slides over our bar. Our goal was for everything to remain uncluttered while maintaining a hint of mystery. Like, “What’s going on?”
However, some fans made jokes about how strange it would be to live in this house alone if the couple ever decided to part ways.
One person on Twitter remarked, “McDavid’s house is cool in like a hedge fund billionaire who is secretly a serial killer kind of way.”
Another joke went, “I hope to god Connor McDavid and his girlfriend stay together forever because if they break up, somebody’s going to have to live alone in that house.”
