The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most storied NBA franchises, not only for what happens on the floor, but also for what happens off the court.
Anthony Davis received an important injury report update ahead of the Lakers’ game against the high-flying Houston Rockets. Dillon Brooks of the Houston Rockets attempted to “poke the bear” with LeBron James, but the basketball world was taken aback by LeBron’s answer.
The past has recently returned in a huge way in regards to the Lakers and former players.
Dennis Rodman, who appeared in 23 games for the Lakers in 1998-1999, was recently mentioned by Lakers owner and president Jeannie Buss.
Buss, the Lakers’ executive vice president, denies dating Rodman.
Buss denied dating Rodman on the show “In Depth with Graham Bensinger.”
“I did not date Dennis Rodman,” Buss claimed, noting that Rodman “came out and said that.”
Rodman revealed to VLAD TV in September that he dated Buss for five months.
Buss remembers the incident as if she were Rodman’s nanny.
“I mean yes, in other words, when my dad [former Lakers owner Jerry Buss] brought on Dennis Rodman to the team it was kind of like, ‘Let’s make sure that we know where he is at all times,'” Buss stated in an interview with the New York Post.
Rodman maintains his claim of dating Lakers’ buss
Two months ago, Rodman told a different narrative.
When questioned about playing for the Lakers, he went on a tirade regarding the franchise and Buss.
“It was hard because I knew the fact that Kobe and Shaq wouldn’t like me,” Rodman told ESPN. “I know because I saw Jerry Buss; he was in love with me.” I used to be in a relationship with his daughter.”
Rodman claimed that Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant were both annoyed by the attention he was receiving.
“At the time, I was dating his daughter.” We dated for six months, and I know Kobe and Shaq didn’t like me because [their] entire focus was on Dennis.
“It shifted from them to me quickly, and when you can see it in the stands, and you can see it in the city and stuff like billboards, so things like that,” he said. “‘I’m not trying to do anything,’ I say.
“Even during games, they would hardly speak to me. That, I believe, is the primary reason they fired me. They had the upper hand, and they no longer desired me.”
