The ex-wife of Evander Kane, Anna Kane, stirred up controversy recently on Instagram and caught the attention of St. Louis Blues goalie Kyle Konin.
Following the team’s decision to sign her ex-husband, Evander Kane, the Edmonton Oilers and their star player, Connor McDavid, came under heavy fire on Kane’s Instagram story.
Anna took to social media to voice her extreme displeasure with the hiring of Kane, addressing both McDavid and the Oilers directly. She accused Evander of “stealing” their child from her and warned that until they got rid of him, the team’s fortunes would suffer.
“You hired a man that STOLE my child from me!!!!!!!!!! This is your karma. You will never ever win until you get rid of him.”
The Instagram story also alluded to the close-knit nature of the NHL community by implying that while people outside the league were aware of Kane’s alleged actions, they were not.
Anna expressed her disbelief at the players’ apparent shift in attitude and openly questioned whether McDavid was aware of Kane’s actions.
The St. Louis Blues goalie Kyle Konin used direct messages to respond to Anna Kane’s story, telling her:
“Have some class.”
Anna, undeterred, defended her actions, responding:
“Maybe the classy thing would be don’t steal someone’s child from them, Thanks-Enjoy”
The social media conversation emphasizes how complex the circumstances are. Everyone involved in the story is urged to handle it sensitively, understandingly, and cognizant of the larger issues at hand, which go beyond the headlines, as the story develops.
