Due to a calf injury, LeBron James missed his first NBA game of the season on Sunday

This season, LeBron James will miss his first NBA game.

The 38-year-old will not play in Sunday night’s Los Angeles Lakers game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

James has a contusion in his left calf, which the team announced before tip-off.

James sustained the injury on Friday night during the Lakers’ 122-119 victory over the Phoenix Suns, according to ESPN.

With 4:22 remaining in the first quarter, he took an inadvertent hit from Suns forward Kevin Durant’s knee to his left shin, injuring his calf while driving to the basket.

James was seen hobbling after the hit as he collected himself on the baseline. After that, he was attended to on the bench.

At the top of the scoring chart with 32 points, he was his usual dominant self. He made 11 of 17 field goals, three of which came from beyond the arc.
