This season, LeBron James will miss his first NBA game.

The 38-year-old will not play in Sunday night’s Los Angeles Lakers game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

James has a contusion in his left calf, which the team announced before tip-off.

James sustained the injury on Friday night during the Lakers’ 122-119 victory over the Phoenix Suns, according to ESPN.

With 4:22 remaining in the first quarter, he took an inadvertent hit from Suns forward Kevin Durant’s knee to his left shin, injuring his calf while driving to the basket.

James was seen hobbling after the hit as he collected himself on the baseline. After that, he was attended to on the bench.

He was able to rejoin the game and helped the Lakers end their run of three consecutive losses.

At the top of the scoring chart with 32 points, he was his usual dominant self. He made 11 of 17 field goals, three of which came from beyond the arc.

According to Fox Sports, James also contributed 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 6 assists in the comeback win.

In the Lakers’ victory over the Suns, four more players scored in double figures.

Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell scored 19 and 18 points, respectively. Cam Reddish finished with 17 points, including a crucial basket in the closing seconds.

Off the bench, Austin Reaves supplied the firepower, scoring 15 points on 6 of 11 shots.

Lakers without LeBron defeated Blazers

In James’ absence, the Lakers performed admirably, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 116-110 on Sunday evening.

With 30 points and 13 rebounds, Anthony Davis led Los Angeles to victory.
