Steph Curry will miss the Warriors’ in-season tournament game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night due to right knee pain.
Curry took a heavy fall during the Warriors’ 116-110 loss to the Timberwolves on Sunday night, but he remained in the game until the starting were removed with less than a minute remaining. Curry will miss his first game of the season.
Golden State may use Curry’s absence as an opportunity to energize some of their other scorers. The Warriors’ top guard, 35, leads the team with 30.7 points per game and a 44.6% 3-point shooting percentage. So far this season, no other Warrior has scored more than 20 points in a single game.
Curry scored 38 points in the first half of this two-game series against the Timberwolves on Sunday. The Warriors struggled offensively against Minnesota’s No. 1 defense, as anyone other than Curry was unable to get going from three or penetrate the post against bigs Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns.
So far this season, the Warriors are 6-5 with a 1-3 record at home. They are also 1-0 in group play of the in-season event, tied for first place in West Group C with the Wolves and Kings. After Minnesota departs, the Oklahoma City Thunder will visit for two games to complete Golden State’s six-game homestand.
