SAN FRANCISCO — Despite Steph Curry’s injury and early ejections of Draymond Green and Klay Thompson two minutes into the game, the Golden State Warriors, already grappling with an offensive identity search, managed to stay competitive against the Minnesota Timberwolves and their highly-ranked defense.
In a hard-fought contest on Tuesday night, the Warriors suffered their fourth consecutive loss, falling 104-101. Rookie Brandin Podziemski made a compelling case for increased minutes, leading the team with 23 points. This marked the first instance this season where a Warrior other than Curry scored more than 20 points. Dario Saric added 21 points, including a crucial go-ahead 3-pointer in the final moments.
However, the Timberwolves edged out the victory. Karl-Anthony Towns hit a pivotal 3-pointer to secure Minnesota’s lead, and Mike Conley’s dagger 3-pointer sealed the game. The Warriors now hold a 6-6 season record, with a 1-4 record at home and a four-game losing streak.
The Warriors host the Oklahoma City Thunder twice more this home stand, starting on Thursday and ending on Saturday. On Monday, they play the rising Houston Rockets to wrap things up. The Warriors play the Suns in Phoenix before Thanksgiving, then head back home for another lengthy home stand.
