Kevin Durant has been asked to help determine the feel for Drake’s second consecutive release.
The rapper has revealed a new EP, Scary Hours 3, which will be released on Friday, and the Phoenix Suns star is listed as a producer alongside engineer Noel Cadastre.
Durant previously worked as an A&R on Drake’s on All the Dogs album, which was released just a few months ago. A&Rs often assist artists with song selection and record artistic development.
An executive producer is often more hands-on, compiling tracklists and making other release decisions.
Of course, we don’t know how much Durant was involved in the process. Drake could simply be thanking his pal for hanging out in the studio during recording sessions. Plus, having an NBA star as an executive producer on your record just sounds nice.
Drake claims to have recorded the entire EP since the release of For All the Dogs on October 6, despite the fact that Durant has been a little preoccupied with basketball throughout that period.
Given For All the Dogs’tepid reviewer and fan reception, let’s hope their second cooperation is more well-received than their first.
