It’s official: loud shirts are fashionable once again. And it appears that LeBron James, the biggest player in the NBA, is the biggest advocate of the trend—quite literally.
The 36-year-old star player for the Los Angeles Lakers, who is also a recent Hollywood recruit, has always had a thing for brightly colored shirts, but it looks like he’s taken things a step further in 2021.
LeBron James wore an eclectic beige shirt from Dries van Noten with a unique “distorted” white contrasting slash down the middle to game five of the NBA Finals between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Phoenix Suns this past weekend. He accessorized the shirt with similarly gaudy Cutler and Gross sunglasses and a solid gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
Just a few days prior, he was observed ambling through Los Angeles donning a Prada outfit featuring a geometric design and a sizable “Zodiac” embroidery, along with some quirky shades (this time, Paul Smiths, which are genuinely also manufactured by Cutler and Gross).
Put another way, he’s stoking the flames of the loud shirt renaissance that is expected to occur in the summer of 2021.
A few other well-known men who have adopted the loud summer shirt trend are Cristiano Ronaldo, Scott Disick, Justin Bieber, and Kevin Hart.
The two stylish men who have also adopted the loud shirt trend are Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad. To promote their new mezcal brand, Dos Hombres, the couple recently shared a picture of themselves lounging in the desert while wearing vibrant silk outfits.
Since the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy, the eagerly awaited follow-up to the beloved 1996 live-action/animated sports comedy film that starred Michael Jordan alongside Looney Tunes characters like Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny, LeBron has been on a high. Since LeBron James is the biggest player of today, it only makes sense that the sequel stars the greatest player of Jordan’s era.
