Nikola Jokic is one of the most well-known basketball players, and he now has another reason to be admired in the sporting world.
His Denver Nuggets won their first NBA championship after defeating the Miami Heat 4-1 in the NBA Finals series, and Jokic led the way with 28 points in the last game.
Jokic wishes to purchase a horse
There appears to be a common notion that Jokic will purchase a horse to commemorate this historic victory.
According to The Athletic, Jokic owns more than a half-dozen horses, and when asked by ESPN if he would purchase another if the Nuggets won, he confirmed that he would.
“Probably, even if I lose,” he speculated.
Jokic’s horse collection
It is not uncommon for sports stars to have strange collections given their wealth, but a basketball star possessing a large number of horses is unusual.
Jokic actually quit basketball in his early adolescence to pursue horse racing.
“Basketball was always a part of my life,” he explained to SLAM magazine.
“I had two older brothers who played basketball, and I fell in love with basketball because of them, but then I got into horse racing at some point in my life.”
“I fell in love with horses because of their beauty and elegance.” It was almost like a hobby for me.
“I didn’t take it seriously, and I didn’t take basketball seriously either.” I was caught between the two.”
The Serbian player now owns a thoroughbred named Dream Catcher, and he keeps the ribbon that the horse won in his locker.
“I just enjoy being around them and seeing all of their different characteristics,” he told The Athletic. “You can see when they figure it out that they are basically like us.” They are sprinters and athletes. They are amazing beings.”
