Many believe the Celtics fell in a disheartening fashion against a squad that had just lost four straight games by an average of around 17 points. Boston was expected to easily win this game, but Tatum’s choking incident prevented that from happening. And you already know how brutal Celtics supporters can be when it comes to their own players.

The Boston Celtics had an opportunity to tie the game at 119 during overtime after the star was fouled by Gordon Hayward. Tatum was shooting a three-pointer when this happened.

This allowed him the opportunity to shoot three free throws, two of which he converted. Jayson Tatum fired the ball in-and-out on his third attempt, earning the Hornets a defensive board due to Miles Bridges. Following that, Hayward’s free shots helped the Hornets win the game. During the moment, Hornets fans could be heard mocking Tatum’s “choke job.” But his most cruel supporters were his own, who relentlessly harassed him online.

What undoubtedly upset Tatum even more was the fact that despite having a fantastic stat line for this game, his team still lost because of him. He finished with 45 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists.
