Shaquille O’Neal offers some guidance about dating.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, who are still in love, receive some advice from the 51-year-old retired NBA player in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE related to his new commercial for Pepsi’s new small cans.
O’Neal is used to having the world keep a close eye on his relationships, including his nine-year marriage to his ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal. The biggest advice he can give the singer and NFL player regarding their relationship is therefore to “keep it out of the public eye.”
He continues, “They look good together,” referring to Kelce,34, and Swift, 33. “I wish them nothing but the best, and I hope they’re happy.”
September saw Swift become the subject of dating rumors when she was seen at a few of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs football games. When they left a Saturday Night Live afterparty in October while holding hands, the two subsequently declared their love for one another.
Things are becoming “more serious” between Swift and the athlete, a source told PEOPLE, after their several outings together, which included Kelce attending her Eras Tour overseas.
The source described Kelce as “sweet, goofy, and just a blast to be around,” and stated, “They share a strong work ethic and have a huge appreciation for life and their careers, strong family bond and values.”
Another sports legend offered his opinion on everything “Traylor” last week when Derek Jeter spoke with PEOPLE regarding the connection between Swift and Kelce in the entertainment and sports industries.
“In that sense, I don’t think it’s anything new,” the 49-year-old former baseball player said, adding that he believes “sports and music have been intertwined for a long, long time.”
“I think anytime you get a new set of eyes, a new demographic that’s paying attention to sports, [it’s great],” he said. “I don’t think it’s like, ‘Oh, she’s gained a new group of admirers now.’ I believe Taylor Swift has a lot of fans anyhow. In any case, they were probably fans. However, I believe it only draws attention to the sports industry.”
“However, it’s funny looking back over the years. The former ball player continued, “You constantly hear people say that a lot of performers want to be athletes, but then you look at athletes and they want to be entertainers too. “I think those worlds have coincided for quite some time.”
