Basketball player Klay Thompson has gained a fan in Canon, the child of Stephen Curry.
The 4-year-old is shown in a sweet video posted on Instagram by the NBA account, demonstrating his excitement for his father’s teammate, the Golden State Warriors, following the team’s victory over the Boston Celtics on Saturday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
As the group seemed to be leaving the game for the locker room, Canon turned around and said, “Hello, Klay Thompson,” grasping Curry’s hand.
Thompson, 32, said to Canon, “Hey, what’s up man?” and several of the onlookers laughed at the cute exchange.
At the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Awards earlier this month, the four-time NBA champion shared his children’s opinions of him with E! News.
In respоnse tо the questiоn оf whether his kids find him “as impressive” as оther peоple dо, Curry, the evening’s hоnоree, said, “I wоuld hоpe tо say yes, but prоbably fоr different reasоns.” “I don’t believe it matters tо them how many times the ball is put in the basket.”
The father of three said, “They enjoy the festivities of celebrating a championship because they’ve been to a couple of parades and all that.” But the best part is that when you’re at home, all you’re is Dad.
“You get to support and enjoy yourself with them as you watch them grow and blossom and discover who they are.” “They like my goofiness and the way you just show up at home more than anything,” he said.
Regarding whether his kids are budding athletes, he revealed that Ryan “is still figuring out if sports is her thing or not” and Riley is “interested in volleyball.”There is no right or wrong response.
He also remarks that Canon appears to be “quite athletic,” but that there is no pressure in any direction. All we ask is that they pursue their interests and find fulfillment in them.
For providing him with “the space to invest in my craft, and the amount of sacrifice it takes to work at that level, but also the unconditional support of wins, losses, great games, bad games, they’re there and I hope to be there for them in all that life throws at us,” Curry also praised his family, referring to them as “the gas in the engine.”
Although he acknowledges that his time playing basketball “is gonna end at some point,” he is excited to share his experiences with his kids.
