The Orlando Magic battled the defending NBA champions and came out on top, 124-119, over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday at the Amway Center.

Throughout the game, neither team led by more than nine points. There were 19 lead changes and 15 ties in the game. The Magic (9-5) took the lead for good with a 3-pointer from Paolo Banchero with 1:18 left in the fourth quarter, leading 118-115.

Denver had several opportunities to tie the game, but the Magic defense forced a 24-second shot clock violation with less than a minute remaining. The Nuggets had an opportunity to tie the game at the buzzer, but Franz Wagner stole the ball with 2.1 seconds remaining.

Goga Bitadze scored six points, including two clutch free throws with 14 seconds remaining. Jalen Suggs is another.

Orlando was led by Wagner, who scored 27 points, 24 of which came in the second half. Cole Anthony had 20 points off the bench and scored 23 points for Banchero.

The Nuggets’ starters all scored in double figures. Nikola Joki led the squad with a triple-double, scoring 28 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and dishing out 12 assists. Michael Porter Jr. also had a strong game for the Nuggets, scoring 25 points and hitting five three-pointers.

Orlando will return to the Amway Center on Friday for its last In-Season Tournament game against the Boston Celtics. Orlando is now 2-1 in the tournament, trailing the Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets.
