The Boston Celtics defeated the Atlanta Hawks 113-103 on Sunday night, led by Jayson Tatum’s 34 points and Jaylen Brown’s 21.

Boston (13-4) was missing Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday due to injuries. Holiday missed his second straight game with an injured right ankle, while Porzingis hurt his left calf in Friday’s loss at Orlando. They were both dressed in street clothes and sitting on a bench.

For the Celtics, Derrick White had 15 points and 11 assists, Sam Hauser had 12 points, and Al Horford had 15 rebounds and six points. Tatum had nine rebounds, while Brown had seven.

Trae Young led the Hawks in scoring with 33 points and seven assists. He entered the game scoring 35.7 points and making at least five 3-pointers in each of his previous three games. He continued his hot shooting streak by making 6-of-16 3-point attempts on Sunday.

For Atlanta, De’Andre Hunter had 24 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic had 23.

Boston never trailed and led by 14 points halfway through the fourth quarter, thanks to Hauser’s 3-pointer.

Brown, who had all of his points in the first half, ran in for a lost ball in the third quarter, flipping out of control into the back of Hunter, who tried to duck under him, before landing on his own back.

The Hawks trailed by 19 points midway through the third quarter when Bogdanovic ignited a 13-0 rally with two of seven three-pointers.

Brown grabbed a lengthy rebound off a Celtics miss, dribbled through traffic, down the lane, and jammed Clint Capela for a 62-48 advantage late in the second quarter, prompting a long, loud applause.

At halftime, Boston led 69-53.

It was the teams’ first encounter since Boston eliminated the Hawks in six games in the first round of the playoffs last spring.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said Porzingis will be reviewed “after a week or so.” He isn’t expecting to be gone for long.

Young was called for a technical early in the first quarter and finished with 20 points.
