NBA superstar Kevin Durant has finally received some noticeable tattoos of the late great Tupac Shakur on his body.
Finally, because Durant has long been a “secretly” tattooed player. Unlike most basketball stars, Durant has kept his tattoos covered beneath his jersey. When the former Oklahoma City Thunder forward took off his jersey, it was surprising to see that he has a nearly completely filled in torso.
The tattoo was revealed by Marcus Thompson II, a newspaper journalist, on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Thompson did not reveal the identity of the tattoo artist who produced the massive image. A image by Gary Reyes of the Oakland Tribune inspired the tattoo.
Durant has been the talk of the NBA offseason after shocking the world by leaving the Thunder and signing with the Golden State Warriors. Despite losing in the Finals, he will be joining a team that was already a powerhouse, and his decision has outraged many fans. Perhaps he’s trying to win over Bay Area fans by paying tribute to a local hip hop legend.
If you look attentively, you’ll discover the instantly recognizable Wu Tang Clan emblem directly behind Tupac. This begs the issue of whether a full hip hop-based leg sleeve will be introduced in the coming months. We’ll keep an eye out to see what he gets tattooed next. Is it a big deal?
