Kevin Durant is largely regarded as one of the best players in the NBA right now, if not all time. The former Golden State Warriors and current Brooklyn Nets player is one of the game’s finest scorers and shooters, so it’s no wonder he’s also one of the richest.
But how did he get his money, and what does he do with it?
His 15-year professional career
In his 15-year career, the 12-time All-Star and one-time MVP has earned more over $300 million. He is the third highest paid NBA player of all time, with a net worth of around $200 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. This year’s NBA play-in tournament will be headlined by Kevin Durant.
His earnings will only rise as he begins a four-year, US$196 million contract this season.
Durant earned an estimated $85 million last year, with $46 million coming off the bench.
A successful businessman
According to the company’s website, Durant and his agent/business partner Rich Kleiman’s 35 Ventures has an extensive investment portfolio that includes more than 75 firms.
Some of those bets have paid off handsomely. For example, his stake in Coinbase, which went public in 2021, was allegedly worth 53 times what he put in at the company’s height.
35 Ventures has also ventured into media via the network Boardroom, producing television shows such as Swagger and, most recently, a documentary titled NYC Point Gods.
