Austin Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers On Monday, Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverly got into a heated argument. The brawl broke out late in the third quarter, when the Sixers led the Lakers 93-72.
Near the baseline, Patrick Beverly and Robert Covington double-teamed Austin Reaves. Covington appeared to push Reaves out of bounds, but the former received a no-call. The possession arrow was declared in favor of the Sixers by the officials.
Patrick Beverly collided with Austin Reaves while he was heading in the opposite direction. The two guards were in each other’s faces before you knew it. Pat Bev raised his arms but never looked Reaves in the eyes.
Fortunately, the official intervened before things escalated.
Austin Reaves’ turnover was the least of his problems. On Monday, the Sixers defeated the Lakers 138-94. The Purple and Gold suffered their worst loss of the 2023-24 NBA season so far. Prior to that, the Lakers had suffered a 128-94 hammering at the hands of the Houston Rockets on November 8.
On Monday, reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid achieved his first triple-double of the season against the Los Angeles Lakers. In the rout, he had 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Tyrese Maxey chipped in 31 points for the Eagles.
LeBron James, on the other hand, led the Lakers with 18 points. Los Angeles’ Anthony Davis, whom Sixers center Paul Reed nicknamed “a big flopper,” scored 17 points.
On Monday, Patrick Beverly enjoyed a tiny statistical advantage against Austin Reaves. The former finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. In the one-sided game, Reaves had 12 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
On Wednesday, the Lakers will try to regroup against the 2-15 Detroit Pistons.
