The San Antonio Spurs will play the Atlanta Hawks in Texas on Thursday evening.
Victor Wembanyama produced a great move in the first quarter that went viral on social media.
The 19-year-old drove up the floor and demonstrated his outstanding handles by driving past Clint Capela for a basket and a foul.
At 7-foot-4, Wembanyama’s ability to take a defender off the dribble like that is one of the reasons he has the potential to be an NBA great.
Wembanyama averaged 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game while shooting 43.0% from the field and 27.5% from three-point range.
However, the Spurs have had a sluggish start to the season, going 3-14 in their first 17 games.
They are on a 14-game losing run and are the Western Conference’s 15th seed.
The Spurs most recently fell to the Denver Nuggets, 132-120.
Wembanyama had 22 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, six steals, and four blocks in 25 minutes of action, shooting 7/17 from the field and 2/5 from three-point range.
Following their game against the Hawks, the Spurs will travel to New Orleans to face Brandon Ingram and the Pelicans on Friday evening.
They have missed the NBA playoffs for four consecutive seasons, but there is a lot of buzz about the franchise because of Wembanyama.
