LeBron James Crowns Jay-Z as ‘The GOAT Rapper’ on His 54th Birthday πŸπŸŽ€πŸŽ‰

nnbο»ΏGiven that some have already named LeBron James the best basketball player of all time, he has some experience with GOATs. Shortly before the Brooklyn-born musician turned 54, “The King” named Jay-Z the greatest rapper of all time.

James re-posted a photo of Jay-Z in a tweet a few hours before Sunday night fell. Born on December 4, 1969, the Grammy Award-winning rapper went on to become one of the finest rappers in music history, if not the greatest.

The LA Lakers star captioned a photo of himself with two “rapping” heads and a goat emoji to send Jay-Z some love.

For those unaware, Jay-Z and LeBron James were pals prior to the basketball legend joining the NBA. James and Williams Wesley, better known by his stage as World Wide Wes, were friends for a year before James was recruited in 2003.

When James was fifteen years old in 1999, Wesley got to know the future NBA star. In 2002, he introduced him to Jay-Z, who at the time was the idol of the Kid from Akron, and the two became fast friends.

As James became a free agent in 2010, there were reports circulating that Jay-Z was attempting to persuade his pal to play in New York. That didn’t happen because the future four-time NBA champion inked a contract with the Miami Heat to play alongside friends Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

During an appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in 2017, LeBron talked about the experience of hearing his name on Jay-Z’s songs.

“It’s always surprising in terms of radio or satellite radio or whatever I’m listening to and I hear my name,” stated LeBron.

“You think, ‘Rewind that!'” Let me check out what they are truly saying. It’s both cool and humble. Every time Jay-Z calls me by name, I feel humbled. He looks out for me since he’s like my older brother.”

In the 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers defeated West Group A to advance to the knockout stage. The Lakers faced the lone West wildcard, the Phoenix Suns, after they advanced over the other group winners, the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings.

After falling to the Lakers in the group stage, the Suns finished second in West Group A. This season, the Lakers have defeated the other team in both of their meetings. They are also the clear favorites to advance to a semifinal matchup against the Pelicans or the Kings because they have defeated the Suns four times in a row.
