Throughout the offseason, Nikola Jokic has been wrongfully criticized for not caring about basketball. What detractors forget is that it takes a lot of love for the game to become a two-time MVP and one-time Finals MVP – Aaron Gordon agrees.
Aaron Gordon mentioned on an edition of Michael Porter Jr.’s ‘Curious Mike’ podcast how excellent of a leader Nikola Jokic is and how much he cares about the game of basketball.
“Jokic is a great leader, you know what I mean,” Gordon remarked. “He arrives on time. He is always on time, if not early. He works out in the morning and completes his reps. He goes to the game, does what he does in the game, and then lifts weights after the game. Every day, he works dutifully. He’s humble and willing to share the ball. So, what else can you ask for when you have a two-time MVP and a one-time Finals MVP who are both selfless? Everyone else has to be selfless as well. If he can do it, everyone else must be selfless.”
Nikola Jokic did not become the best player in the world by chance. Just because fans see him being sarcastic in front of the camera all the time shouldn’t diminish what he does on the court. The Denver Nuggets’ success has not come by chance. Critics must comprehend and respect what Jokic and the Nuggets have been doing for years at some time.
