SAW About Steph Curry, Klay Thompson shares a tale he’s never shared with anyone: Fans were taken aback by the announcement.
Klay Thompson says he wants to leave the Warriors in retirement.
It might seem that Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were best buddies from the beginning with their four championship victories together, but that is not the truth.
In fact, throughout their first two seasons together on the Warriors, they hardly spoke at all.
During his appearance as a guest on Podcast P with Paul George, Klay Thompson disclosed the startling beginnings of his partnership with Steph Curry.
To be honest, I don’t think Steph and I said anything the first year, Thompson remarked.
“Steph only participated in about 20 games that season; for the first 30 games, I was benched.” Actually, we didn’t talk to each other all that often. I was really silent.
In actuality, it wasn’t until their third season together on Team USA that Klay Thompson and Steph Curry genuinely grew close.
Golf, one of Steph Curry’s favorite games, was the impetus behind it all.
When Thompson noted, “We played for that Team USA in our third year, that’s when our relationship really started to grow.”
“Where were we when we finally hung out off the court since we had nothing else to do? We played golf since we had nothing else to do, similar to the Canary Islands.
It was on the golf course that we finally got to know one another. Dominique Wilkins and Clyde Drexler were our playing partners.
I had a great time playing with them. That was the first time Steph and I had a real conversation.
At times, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson appear to be inseparable.
On the court, they appear to move as a unit and be totally in sync. If there’s one thing Klay Thompson’s experience demonstrates, it’s that relationships take time to develop.
