Not long after he inked a $190 million contract with the Lakers for the following four seasons, Anthony Davis reinvested a sizeable portion of his earnings to buy a new house in the Los Angeles region. The Real Deal was the first to report on the startling purchase price of the estate in the guard-gated area of Bel Air Crest, which is situated in the mountains between Bel Air town and the San Fernando Valley.
Bel Air Crest is a community where more than 200 houses were constructed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Most of these properties are opulent houses with own driveway gates and Mediterranean architectural styles. Notable chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Kathy Gryphon, as well as celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who resided at Bel Air Crest while their enormous Hidden Hills mansion was being built, are among the other residents.
Davis paid precisely $31 million for his new house, according to publicly available paperwork, and secured a $20,1 million mortgage. He never listed his house on the market. The aforementioned estate is the biggest and most lavish in the entire community. With a living area exceeding 20,000 square feet, this property is perched on a 3.5-acre promontory with breathtaking views of Catalina Island and the Pacific Ocean.
As per the property documents, the eight-bedroom, nine-and-a-half-bathroom mansion was completed in 2010 and constructed especially for the Chang family, who live nearby. Sold for precisely $10 million in 2016, the perfectly symmetrical building, best described as a European-inspired chateau fusion interpretation of the White House, was purchased by Ted Foxman, a retired semiconductor executive who is now a real estate developer. After thereafter, Foxman invested more money in the extensive property’s renovations. Both the grounds and the interiors have undergone extensive restoration; the latter is now noticeably more vibrant and lush than the former.
Foxman also gave in to his decorative fancies with the house, parking a classic Porsche 356 in the living room (which had been painted a pretty aqua color) and adding bright pops of color throughout. The previous year, Elle Decor published photos of the outcome of his labors, which were overseen by Lonni Paul, an interior designer located in Los Angeles.
The double-height vestibule’s top huge dome creates a solarium-like ambiance within. Among the various private rooms are a movie theater, a wine cellar, a games area with a wet bar, and a music room for guitar jam sessions. The property’s main attractions are the 120-foot-long Olympic-caliber pool and the spectacular view, which eclipse the mansion despite its immense size. Other attractions include an endless lawn, a full-size tennis court, and a cabana by the pool.
Davis once owned a Westlake Village property that he paid $7.5 million for in 2018 and then sold for an astonishing $1 million loss in 2020. About Foxman, he downsized to a $13.8 million estate with a basketball court and 13,000 square feet of living space in Encino. Prior to taxes and renovation costs, of course, Foxman more than tripled his money on the Bel Air sale to Davis.
