Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has been suspended by the NBA indefinitely “for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf NurkiΔ in the face,” the league’s executive vice president and head of basketball operations, Joe Dumars, said on Wednesday.
The league said, “This outcome takes into account Greenβs repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts. … He will be required to meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play.”
Green is suspended without notice. Green has been suspended six times total, four of which have occurred in the last nine months.
Green was suspended for five games after “escalating an on-court altercation and forcibly grabbing Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert around the neck” during a game on November 14. This penalty is effective immediately after the game.
Green was removed from the game on Tuesday following a ferocious swing that struck Nurkic in the head.
After reviewing the play, the referees called a Flagrant Foul 2, which entails an immediate ejection for Green.
The event occurred with 8:23 left in Tuesday’s 119-116 victory over Phoenix in the third quarter. Green was fouled out with the Warriors ahead 65β60, and he had just 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.
The Warriors are now in 11th place in the Western Conference after dropping to 10-13.
