DENVER (AP) — As the Denver Nuggets defeated the Brooklyn Nets 124-101 on Thursday night to win their third straight game, Nikola Jokic made history by becoming the first NBA player to have at least 10 triple-doubles in seven consecutive seasons.
During the regular season, Jokic recorded his 115th career triple-double with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jamal Murray’s return, who was sidelined for Tuesday’s game against Chicago due to ankle pain, was another plus for Denver.
He led the reigning champion Nuggets in scoring with 16, while Peyton Watson chipped in with 18.
“Hey, life gets a lot easier with Nikola,” Denver head coach Michael Malone remarked. With 26 points, 10 assists, 15 rebounds, and the ability to get to the foul line quickly, he is just an incredible player. The thing that probably made me the happiest was Nikola’s defense. I desired to be assertive. I believe Nikola set the tone for tonight, and I want to be at a disruptive level.
