The Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon made headlines in the offseason for their summer antics. The 2023 champions had gathered in Jokic’s hometown of Sambor, Serbia, to watch horse racing after a video of the event went viral. In the latest episode of From the Point, one of their colleagues, Michael Porter Jr., disclosed his summer plans after sharing the insights.
Michael first explained Jokic’s offseason, saying, “Joker is in Serbia all offseason.” “Drinking beer while watching horses.” It once again brought the two-time MVP’s tastes to the forefront, as horses surpassed basketball in the pecking order. “He probably didn’t touch a basketball all off-season and somehow he got better,” added the 25-year-old.
Regarding Gordon’s trip to Europe, he earlier stated, “He is the ultimate teammate.” He’s a laid-back dude.” Later, Porter Jr. reiterated the same, highlighting the power forward’s courage in justifying his decision. “He’s just a free spirit, so he pulled up to Serbia,” the Nuggets rookie explained before outlining his summer plans.
Looking back on Nikola Jokic’s summer activities
After winning Game 5 of the 2023 NBA Finals, Nikola was more concerned with returning home than with anything else in the world. The main motivation for this was to watch horse racing in his hometown on weekends. “On Sundays, I have my horse racing,” the 28-year-old famously said in the post-game interview. The center even wanted to borrow the team’s President, Josh Kroenke’s, private jet to arrive early.
“I think Imma try to get out there next year and see what y’all guys have going on,” the 6’10 star said, expressing his intention to follow Aaron’s route. Gordon’s feedback following his stay had a big influence, as Michael remarked, “He tells me like it’s fun out there.” “The nightlife is way better than it is over here,” the Indiana native explained before stressing, “Imma go party with Joker.”
