On a podcast, Aaron Gordon disclosed that Nikola Jokic is more than just a basketball player, comparing him to a political leader in Sombor, Serbia: “It makes so much sense why he’s so successful.”
The Denver Nuggets celebrated their first championship with a boisterous march through the city streets. After that, Nikola Jokic jumped on an aircraft and flew back to his favorite place in the world, Serbia.
This summer, his special guest was none other than teammate Aaron Gordon, who was in Europe for the second straight offseason.
Jokic played tour guide for Gordon for three days, revealing the delights of Sombor and its lovely surrounds.
Gordon revealed additional facts regarding Jokic’s life in Serbia on a recent episode of the Knuckleheads podcast.
“It’s fine, man. “Big fella gets active,” he recalled.
According to Gordon, Jokic’s influence in Serbia extends beyond basketball.
“He’s like the president, mayor, governor, senator, whatever you want to call him, man.” “He’s him,” Gordon insisted.
“It’s fine, Sobor. It’s easy to see why he’s so successful. “His values align with winning,” the 28-year-old added. “Every day, he works on his body; every day, he eats well; and every day, he spends time with his family.” He’s just quiet and calm, and he takes the time to greet everyone. He’s just a terrific guy all the way around. It just makes sense that a good dude would win.
“He looks after his people and his town, and he’s just locked in, and then he races his horses and rides his bike through town.”
“He’s a gangster here,” Gordon said, smiling.
