With his 3,500th career 3-pointer, Stephen Curry becomes the first-ever player in NBA history to lead his team to victory. Klay Thompson also overcomes Jason Terry in the 3-point rankings.
Stephen Curry, the star of the Golden State Warriors, broke the record on Saturday night by making his 3,500th 3-pointer. Curry is already the NBA’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers.
Only Ray Allen, James Harden, and Reggie Miller have joined the elite 2,500 club, with no other player having reached the 3,000 milestone.
Curry dribbled around a screen to make the game-winning 3-pointer in the first quarter of the Warriors’ 124-120 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
However, that was only the start.
Curry went on to have one of his best games of the year, finishing with 37 points on a scorching 14 of 22 shooting, which included a 6-for-8 effort from beyond the arc.
Not to be outdone, Klay Thompson scored 12 of his 24 points from 3-point range, making a big impact from long range as well. With this accomplishment, Thompson moved up to ninth position on the NBA’s career 3-pointers list, surpassing Jason Terry.
Curry and Thompson scored 61 points apiece, making ten of their 17 3-point tries.
