Chris Paul, an NBA player, is the proud father of two children.
He and his wife Jada Paul have a son, Chris Jr., 14, and a daughter, Camryn, 11.
Chris revealed in 2022 how his father, Charles, influenced his own parenting ethic. “The only person’s approval that I still really, really care about to this day is my dad,” he explained, adding that Charles taught him to give his children “the most amount of love that you could show.”
Basketball Dreams, the point guard’s second children’s book, was inspired by his father, who later posted images of him reading it with his son. “Papa Chilly inspired me at an early age with lessons I’ve carried all my life,” he writes in his autobiography. “And now I’d like to pass those on.” This one is for all the kids who have ambitions and the individuals who show them how to achieve them.”
Chris and his children modeled for Bloomingdale’s for Father’s Day in 2017, and he spoke about his enjoyment of large family meals. He also revealed the advice he would give to a new father: “Enjoy the little moments and take more pictures.” We take a lot of pictures whenever we have a family function.”
Here’s everything you need to know about Chris Paul’s two children, Chris Jr. and Camryn.
Emmanuel Paul II, Christopher, 14
Christopher Emmanuel Paul II, Chris and Jada’s older child, was born on May 25, 2009.
Chris Jr. frequently accompanied his father to news appearances as a child. In an NBA video from 2012, Chris urged his son, who was sitting on his lap at the time, to emulate his Los Angeles Clippers teammate Blake Griffin with “The Blake Face.” Chris Jr., who was two at the time, joyfully imitated Griffin’s heated midgame expression.
Chris Jr., now a teenager, is following in his father’s footsteps. Chris told PEOPLE in 2020 that he was making the most of the family’s time at home by helping Chris Jr. develop his basketball talents. “My son enjoys the game. “He adores it,” he stated. “Another thing that this quarantine has given me the ability to do is, I’ve never had an opportunity to train him myself.”
Chris Jr., ever the athlete, enjoys soccer. “The thing you learn as a parent is that you’re going to love whatever makes your kids happy,” the Phoenix Suns player said in 2018. “Getting up early in the morning” to watch the World Cup with his son was part of that support: “I’ve actually grown to love it a lot more and learned everything about it.”
Chris Jr. celebrated his 13th birthday in 2022 with a sneaker-themed party. His father posted images of the event, which showed the boy playing basketball and partying with pals. Chris Jr. has also met a number of prominent people, including: He shared a photo with Drake in 2021. He had uploaded a photo with Kiyan Anthony, the son of NBA player Carmelo Anthony, a year before.
Camryn Alexis Paul, 11 years old
Camryn Alexis Paul, Chris and Jada’s daughter, was born on August 16, 2012.
When the Paul family started socially isolating themselves in 2020, Chris told PEOPLE that Camryn would get “really antsy” during activities like Zoom calls. Chris put up training circuits for daughter, while Jada would “have her go outside and run a lap” to burn off some energy after virtual school and the additional time at home.
Chris paid respect to Camryn’s 10th birthday by posting multiple images of the father-daughter duo on Instagram. “I love the beautiful Black young lady you are and even more the one you are becoming!!” he stated in an email. “Daddy will always love you!!” Double figures!!! I can’t believe that…”Happy birthday, sweetheart.”
Camryn celebrated her eighth birthday two years ago with a movie night sleepover with pals, including Zhuri Nova, LeBron James’s daughter. Jada uploaded images from the party, noting that her daughter was “beautiful, creative, artistic” and the “most sweetest little lady.”
Camryn has several abilities, according to her Instagram account, which is overseen by her parents. She has studied painting, gone fishing, and played golf. Chris told ThePostGame in 2018 that she has dabbled in soccer and baseball.
Camryn attended the 71st NBA All-Star Game in February 2022, where Vanessa Bryant awarded Chris with the inaugural Kobe and Gigi Bryant Advocacy Award for his support of women’s basketball and the WNBA. Camryn accepted the prize beside her father on the court, and Chris subsequently commented that he was especially thrilled because his daughter had “recently started hooping” herself.
Chris told PEOPLE about Camryn’s pursuit of the game the following month. “During the playoffs last year, she called me … and she was trying to teach herself to dribble between her legs,” he went on to say. “And she’s so persistent — I was kind of coaching her, telling her what to do.” She showed me a video three hours later, and she could do it!”
His wife and kid, the delighted father remarked, reinforced his desire for gender equality. “Women are strong enough to do anything,” he said, adding that he hoped WNBA players will “continue to voice what changes they would like to see in their game.”
