Nikola Jokic chose to get his mind in the game by watching his favorite animal on Thursday, the day before the Denver Nuggets play the Brooklyn Nets.
During an away game in New York, “The Joker” wasted little time in visiting a horse racetrack.
If you know anything about the Denver Nuggets or Jokic, it’s that, other from leading the franchise to their first NBA title, the Joker adores horses.
On game day eve, Jokic stopped by Yonkers Raceway to pursue what is arguably his greatest passion. On Facebook, the racetrack posted images of Jokic and his team.
This obsession follows him back to Serbia, where his family’s horses reside.
But Jokic’s fondness for the animal became obvious to the Mile High City after he returned to his birthplace of Sombor to witness horse racing less than a week after winning the NBA championship.
Following the team’s victory celebration in Denver on Thursday, Jokic was apprehensive about his ability to return home in time for Sunday’s races.
He even joked that he would request that Nuggets CEO Josh Kroenke lend him the team plane to ensure he arrived on time.
Fortunately, Jokic made it to the parade and horse racing.
He squeezed in another trip to the racetrack before his game on Friday.
