At Oakland’s The Bridge Yard, the “Christmas with the Currys” festivity benefits 500 underprivileged families.
The Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation of Stephen and Ayesha Curry brought the Christmas joy to West Oakland on Sunday.
On Sunday, the couple and several other supporters presented the 10th Annual Christmas with their holiday celebration at The Bridge Yard.
This year’s holiday Winter Wonderland extravaganza assisted 500 Oakland families in need this holiday season. Families gathered to take part in the activities, which included a skating rink, an ice arcade, snowballs, face painting, illuminated ring swings, and photos with Santa Claus.
The yearly event, with the help of dedicated community partners such as the Oakland Literacy Coalition, Black Cultural Zone, and Oakland Public Library, facilitated the distribution of free books to children and families to encourage reading while at home for the holidays.
Christmas with the Currys comprised non-perishable meal kits, household items and technology, clothing supplies, gift cards, toys, games, event tickets, Literati books, and more.
Under Armour also provided Curry Brand basketballs and bags to attendees as part of Curry Brand’s bigger objective to make basketball more accessible to youngsters in cities that inspired Stephen’s career and life experiences.
Families enjoyed a customized Fairyland event with all the trappings of a winter paradise throughout the day. Families frolicked on the ice skating rink, swung from illuminated swings, made cookies, and tossed snowballs, bringing the place to life.
Some posed at the Snow Globe photo booth, while youngsters got to see Santa and Mrs. Claus. A Jack and Jill Snow Hill for sledding, amusement rides, and story time kiosks with take-home books were among the other attractions.
