On Thursday, the day before the Denver Nuggets take on the Brooklyn Nets, Nikola Jokic decided to focus on his favourite animal to get his mind in the game.
Not to be outdone, ‘The Joker’ stopped by a horse racecourse during a trip to New York.
If you know anything about the Denver Nuggets or Jokic, you know that he loves horses in addition to being the team’s first NBA champion.
Jokic visited Yonkers Raceway on the eve of the game to indulge in what is possibly his greatest pleasure. The racecourse shared pictures of Jokic and his team on Facebook.
He returns to Serbia, home of his family’s horses, and this obsession follows.
It is around thirty minutes away from Barclays Centre to the Harrison Wind @HarrisonWind Yonkers Raceway, where Nikola Jokic watched horse racing tonight. It’s not like it’s right around the corner on a chilly New York night, especially with traffic in NYC. just because I love the game.
Less than a week after winning the NBA title, Jokic travelled back to his birthplace of Sombor to watch horse racing, which made it clear to the Mile High City how much he loved the animal.
Jokic expressed doubts about his ability to go back home in time for Sunday’s races after the team’s victory celebration in Denver on Thursday.
He even made a joke about asking Josh Kroenke, the CEO of the Nuggets, to lend him the team plane so he could be there on time.
Jokic, happily, managed to attend the horse racing and parade.
On Friday, he managed to make another journey to the racecourse before to his game.
