Every season, skeptics argue that the Warriors’ big three of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green should be split up. Steph Curry can hear all of that noise every season, including this one.
Steph Curry issued a message last week to critics who have called for the Warriors’ core to be broken up.
“It’s been like that for years now, even before we won the ’22 championship,” Curry told reporters. “They always find something to criticize, and that’s because they expect us to win.” So you just take everything in stride. For me, my approach is to simplify it to what I stated in LA: “We’re just trying to figure out how to win one game at a time, give ourselves some momentum, confidence, and energy.”
The Golden State Warriors have proven to be far more formidable in the last two weeks than they were at the beginning of the month. They overcame the powerful Boston Celtics during their five-game winning streak. Losing the streak in a hard-fought game against the defending champion Nuggets is also not to be dismissed. Steph Curry understands that all of this is in preparation for their dreadful month of February.
“It’s no secret to anybody what February looks like or a playoff push, and what you need to show other teams to be a serious threat to win a playoff series or whatever the case is,” Curry said in an interview.
The Warriors’ biggest issue right now isn’t breaking up their big three. It’s about finding the right balance of minutes for young players and veterans, and getting everyone in the right groove.
