Aaron Gordon’s NBA season has come to an end.

The basketball star, 28, received lacerations to his face and shooting hand after being bitten by a dog on Christmas, according to the Denver Nuggets.

Gordon had 21 stitches as a result of the incident, according to ESPN and The Athletic. While no specific comeback date was given, the Nuggets stated that Gordon is “in good condition” and that additional updates would be provided as needed.

Earlier that day, the power forward scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Nuggets defeat the Golden State Warriors 120-114.

“We’re not going to put him under any pressure.” We need him to recover from the inside out. Going through something like that is not something you can easily recover from,” he remarked. “That’s something where you have to heal from the physical, but you also have to heal from the mental and what you just kind of went through.”

“We need him back.” “We know we’re better off with him,” Malone continued. “But I want to support Aaron Gordon and make sure when he comes back, he’s ready to come back and play at the level that we know he’s capable.”

Teammate Kentavious Caldwell-Pope told reporters that Gordon’s injury was discovered during practice. “My heartfelt condolences go out to him.” “I know he’s down right now, but I’m going to reach out to him today and just try to uplift him [and] make sure he’s okay,” he said.

Gordon previously missed four games in November and early December due to a heel ailment. Gordon told The Athletic that walking felt like “stepping on a stone” after returning to the team’s game against the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 2.
